Dermatologists apply patch tests in patients with dermatitis to evaluate whether their skin condition is caused or aggravated by a specific contact allergy.

Patch tests vs. skin prick tests

Patch tests are completely different from standard allergy skin prick tests, which allergists typically use to diagnose airborne or hay fever allergies.

What we test with

A broad range of compounds can be used for targeted patch screening. A baseline screening series such as the T.R.U.E. Test (Thin-layer Rapid Use Epicutaneous Patch Test) is applied to the patient, alongside specific testing materials relevant to the individual's daily or work exposures.

We also offer the American Core Tray, a more comprehensive patch testing configuration that tests over 80 discrete allergens.
